Q. What is recalibration?
Recalibration becomes necessary when the instrument dials on your dashboard malfunction. For example, the fuel gauge may be showing 1/4 full after you have filled the vehicle up, or it may even stop working altogether. This can also happen to other gauges and dials. That's where we can help by electronically recalibrating the dashboard to either restore faulty gauges and dials.
Q. Why do I need this service?
There are many reasons why you might need this service. For example, your dashboard might develop an electrical fault, be damaged in a collision or even be vandalized, resulting in an incorrect mileage being shown on your odometer or dashboard. You might therefore purchase either a new or second hand dashboard. What happens? If it's a new one it will have 0 miles on it. If it's a second hand one it could have 200,000 miles on it! Naturally you want it to show the correct mileage and that's where we can help, by electronically placing new mileage information into the dashboard.
Q. Is it legal?
It is not illegal to change the mileage on your own personal vehicle for the above reasons. It IS illegal if you knowingly sell the vehicle with mileage either above or below what is has actually covered. We can take no part in such activity.
All types of Dashboards can be recalibrated and reprogrammed. Some vehicles can be reprogrammed by using the vehicles own diagnostic socket, others need the dash removing in order to get to the eeprom.
